About The Position

Spectrum HealthCare has a full-time opportunity for a Medical Receptionist at the Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center in Dumfries, Virginia. This outpatient environment emphasizes patient care over administrative duties. The role involves performing receptionist duties and various clerical tasks to assist staff, answering inquiries, verifying and updating patient information in the data system, registering new patients, and preparing daily end-of-day reports. The Medical Receptionist will use computer systems to input patient information, book appointments, and maintain data manually when the system is down. They will also ensure all requested treatments are scheduled, reschedule appointments as necessary, and maintain/stock forms at the front desk.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience as an administrative technician, in medical environment, using full range of equipment used in medical office environment.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
  • Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Composite Health Care system (CHCS).
  • Knowledge of AR 40-66.
  • Experience with electronic medical record system (AHLTA).

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist duties and other various clerical tasks to assist staff members as necessary.
  • Answer inquiries, verify and obtain information for general public, customers, visitors and other interested parties and update the Data system if needed.
  • Verify patient information and make corrections if needed with each request for an outpatient visit.
  • Register new patients in the Composite Health Care system (CHCS).
  • Record and maintain accurate records per AR 40-66 and the use of the electronic medical record system (AHLTA).
  • Prepare daily end of day reports and able to utilize computer data systems in these processes.
  • Use computer terminal to input patient information and book the appointment by inputting appropriate codes for various types of appointments, patient’s military status, health care provides, etc.
  • Maintain data manually and input later when system is down.
  • Ensure all treatment requested by the provider has been scheduled; reschedule appointments when necessary.
  • Maintain/stock forms needed at front desk.
