About The Position

Golden State Dermatology is a rapidly expanding physician-led and owned dermatology group with over 45 locations across California. We specialize in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, including skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs surgery, cosmetic skincare, anti-aging treatments, body contouring, and plastic surgery. This role involves cross-training and coverage in both front and back office duties as needed, requiring candidates to be open to supporting both areas. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be crucial in ensuring the front desk operates smoothly and providing excellent patient service. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out, verifying insurance, handling phone calls, and maintaining patient records. A key part of the role is managing the appointment schedule, including auditing, confirming attendance, and collecting pre-appointment information. You will also proactively offer earlier appointment slots to patients on waiting lists when openings arise. Additionally, you will educate patients and staff on products and sell available skincare products. This position demands significant multitasking and task management to ensure all duties are completed promptly. The Practice Manager may assign further duties based on practice needs. Ultimately, the goal is to provide exceptional patient service, making patients feel welcome, comfortable, and well-cared for. Attention to detail, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to patient satisfaction are essential for success.

Requirements

  • Cross training and coverage in the front and back office as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service skills or a patient-centered mindset
  • Previous Dermatology, healthcare, or aesthetics experience
  • Knowledgeable with insurance carriers (i.e., Medicare, commercial, HMO)
  • Familiarity with EClinicalWorks, EMA, or other EMR software

Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcoming patients
  • Assisting with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Verifying patients' insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Handling phone inquiries
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Managing the appointment schedule, including auditing for future appointments, confirming attendance, and collecting necessary information before the appointment
  • Contacting patients on waiting lists or with future appointments to offer earlier slots, focusing on filling the soonest available appointments for providers with open slots
  • Providing product education to patients and staff
  • Selling skincare products
  • Multitasking and task management to ensure all responsibilities are completed promptly
  • Performing additional job duties as assigned by the Practice Manager
