About The Position

We are looking for a flexible, confident professional who can jump into any office, keep things running smoothly, and make patients feel at ease. The Relief Medical Receptionist is assigned to any medical offices of the Clinic on an as needed basis. Medical receptionists assist the physician and patients by ensuring the medical environment is welcoming and calm for patients and their families. With compassion and integrity, they will provide a positive patient experience while completing their administrative duties. Maintain office organization and patient flow while adhering to strict confidentiality policies is essential.

Requirements

  • A community college diploma/certificate specializing in Medical Office Assisting or Hospital Ward Clerk or equivalent experience.
  • Speaking – ability to convey information to patients correctly.
  • Flexibility - multi-tasking, time management, organization, attention to detail
  • Computer skills
  • Professionalism and compassion effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

  • OHIP Billing, Accuro and Epic experience an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to any department that requires additional help. This may mean changing offices throughout the day. This can be in a reception or technician role. A technician role performs tests using various equipment and rooming patients. This requires extensive walking.
  • Promptly greet patients in person or on the telephone answering inquiries and scheduling appointments to optimize patient satisfaction and the physician’s time.
  • Respect the dignity and privacy of patients by maintaining strict confidentiality of personal health information.
  • Responsible for the initial processing through the EMR system and updating and documenting patient information as necessary, obtaining results of diagnostic investigations prior to patient’s appointments. This may include using the hospital EMR (EPIC) as well.
  • Liaison with referring physicians/nurses and office staff in a cordial manner.
  • Deliver service to both patients and fellow Clinic members by engaging in positive interactions and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their experience is better than expected.
  • Ensure all medical services performed by physician are entered into the system for OHIP and third-party billing.
  • Prep/tidy exam rooms, direct patients to ensure there is continuous patient flow.
  • Schedule tests and procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain incoming mail, faxes, documents, tasks, meeting schedules.
  • Preparing laundry or autoclave to go out.
  • Ordering internally for office and medical supplies.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Scanning patient records for document retention.
  • Any other duties needed to ensure consistent operation of the Clinic.
