About The Position

Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking innovative individuals for multiple Medical Radiation Technologist (Nuclear Medicine) positions, to perform Nuclear Medicine Imaging procedures and to provide quality clinical diagnostic information and services. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a three (3) year Advanced Diploma in Molecular Imaging, from an accredited college with current Certificate of Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO). However, candidates expected to obtain registration in the next few months and recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Our Nuclear Medicine department stands out for its size, state-of-the-art equipment, and the strong sense of teamwork that defines our staff. We currently have six gamma cameras, a bone density machine, three hot labs and a dedicated PET department, we are fully equipped to serve the diverse needs of our patients, not just locally but across all of Northern Ontario. Our department is housed in a spacious, bright facility with large windows and beautiful rooms, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for both patients and staff. In our Nuclear Medicine and PET department, the candidate can expect a dynamic and varied workload, with the opportunity to perform a wide range of procedures. Some examples are bone scans, WBC scans, thyroid uptakes and scans, along with thyroid ablation therapies, renal scans, V/Q scans, gastrointestinal studies, cardiac studies, etc. Additionally, we perform bone density tests and oncology PET scans, giving you exposure to different technologies and patient care. Coming in 2026: Replacement of two of our older gamma cameras with state-of-the-art technology. A StarGuide camera and a second 870 CZT system will be installed, further advancing our technology to enhance diagnostic precision and optimize patient care across the North. Requirements

• Minimum of a three (3) year Advanced Diploma in Molecular Imaging, from an accredited college.
• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) is required.
• Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
• Recent experience working in a Nuclear Medicine department within a health care environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) systems, Nuclear Cardiology, Bone Densitometry, Radiopharmacy, and Position Emission Tomography (PET/CT).
• Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic equipment and problem solving skills relating to equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of positioning protocols and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to perform a range of diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control Practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of governmental regulatory standards.
• Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety, protocols and protection regulations pertaining to nuclear substances and devices.
• Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
• Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
• Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize workload as required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certificate of Registration with Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is preferred.
• Current Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine and molecular imaging procedures (i.e., nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology, Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) systems, PET/CT and bone mineral density exams and procedures).
• Provide safe and timely services while maximizing the potential of the equipment.
• Obtain informed consent and verify patient history and information.
• Maintain records and documentation according to department policy and procedures.
• Coordinate daily work schedule, prioritize emergency and add on cases as required.
• Perform all procedures in accordance with radiation safety practices, applicable legislation, clinical standards, and departmental policies and procedures to ensure personnel and patient safety.
• Adhere to the Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
• Troubleshoot equipment and/or procedure issues and contact appropriate service provider.
• Perform Radiopharmacy and Quality Control Procedures in the department.
• Collaborate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Assist with student education and evaluations as required.
• Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
• Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
• Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
• Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
• Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
