About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking an accomplished medical physicist to join its faculty. The academic rank will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, academic record, and publication history. The department focuses on the research and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer, specializing in brain, musculoskeletal, and solid tumors. There is a particular interest in candidates with expertise in proton therapy and in developing innovative approaches to treatment targeting, treatment planning and delivery, and toxicity modeling. This role offers significant opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers across various St. Jude cancer center programs. Requirements

  • PhD in medical physics, engineering, or related physical science.
  • Certification in radiation oncology physics by ABR, ABMP, or CCPM, or eligibility for certification.
  • Demonstrated record of academic productivity and publications commensurate with the proposed faculty rank.
  • Strong potential for collaborative research and academic contributions.
  • Foreign equivalencies for these qualifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and develop innovative approaches in treatment targeting, treatment planning, delivery, and toxicity modeling, particularly in proton therapy.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with investigators across multiple St. Jude cancer center programs.
  • Contribute to scholarly productivity and academic innovation within the Department of Radiation Oncology.
  • Potentially mentor research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical research associates.
  • Participate in the treatment planning and delivery of radiation therapy for pediatric patients.
