About The Position

The Division of Medical Physics at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a board-certified Medical Physicist to join their growing team. This role will support the current clinical practice and assist in the preparation for the first Carbon-Ion Therapy Center in the nation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic and clinical productivity in therapeutic medical physics, including clinical practice, project management, research achievements, and educational excellence. The new building is set to open in 2025 for photon treatments, followed by proton therapy in 2027 and the first Carbon Therapy system in North America in 2028. The department is equipped with Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Gamma Knife ICON, Mobetron, dual energy Siemens CT simulators, an Elekta Flexitron HDR remote after loader, and a comprehensive suite of dosimetry and detector systems for photon, proton, carbon, and brachytherapy. Treatment procedures encompass all conventional radiation therapy, as well as specialized treatments such as IORT, TBI, TSET, HDR, SRS, SBRT, BH, and LDR eye plaques. The Medical Physics Division currently comprises seventeen board-certified medical physicists and is projected to expand significantly in the coming years to support the development and implementation of the particle therapy center. The Division also hosts a medical physics residency program. This division is an experienced and unified team responsible for all facets of therapy physics, supporting clinical practice, education, and research in radiation oncology.

Requirements

  • Ph.D.
  • ABR board eligibility.
  • Capability to obtain a Florida State license.
