About The Position

The Medical Oncology Registered Veterinary Technician joins a collaborative clinical team and helps deliver compassionate, attentive care to patients and clients. The role involves supporting oncology treatment plans, including chemotherapy, and building strong relationships with patients and their clients. The technician should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, and attentive to detail.

Requirements

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license.
• Prior veterinary experience.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Previous oncology experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with chemotherapy protocols.
• Perform drug calculations related to treatment plans.
• Operate and maintain a vertical-flow hood.
• Support clinical studies and trials.
• Follow extravasation protocols and safety practices.
• Administer chemotherapy, including venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
• Coordinate and manage client communication and education by phone and email.
• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, handle invoicing, discharge patients, and schedule appointments.
• Document information accurately and thoroughly in medical records.
