About The Position

Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) in West Springfield, Massachusetts, is hiring a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) to join its Oncology team. The technician works closely with doctors and specialty staff to provide advanced treatments, compassionate support, and nursing care to patients receiving cancer care, while supporting their families throughout the treatment process. VESH is a 24-hour, VECCS Level 2 Certified emergency and specialty veterinary hospital offering services including advanced imaging, internal medicine, surgery, medical oncology, and emergency and critical care. The role is based at the West Springfield hospital and offers either four 9-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts. Compensation is $26–$31 per hour based on experience, skills, and training, with possible increases for advanced oncology knowledge or specialty experience and shift differentials where applicable. Requirements

Certified Veterinary Technician credential required (CVT, RVT, or LVT).
Active veterinary technician credential in Massachusetts required.
Strong technical nursing skills and confidence in patient handling.
Ability to perform medical calculations and administer treatments accurately.

Responsibilities

Perform patient intakes and obtain detailed medical histories.
Review treatment plans, cost estimates, medications, and discharge instructions with clients.
Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, procedures, and chemotherapy administration.
Collect and prepare diagnostic samples, including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates.
Perform medical calculations and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Safely handle and administer chemotherapy agents according to hospital safety protocols.
Assist with radiographs, CT scans, ultrasound procedures, and patient positioning.
Monitor sedated patients during procedures and oversee safe recovery.
Deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining accurate medical records.
Collaborate with doctors and fellow technicians to support excellent patient outcomes.
