About The Position

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is hiring a Veterinary Technician for its Oncology team. The technician will work alongside Board-Certified Oncologists to provide compassionate, specialized patient care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. PVESC is a growing multi-specialty and emergency veterinary practice in the Portland, Maine area, with a new 42,000-square-foot hospital opening soon.

Requirements

• Licensed or credentialed Veterinary Technician, or experienced Veterinary Assistant.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

• Oncology or specialty medicine experience.
• EzyVet or SmartFlow experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and chemotherapy under oncologist supervision.
• Assist with diagnostics, including laboratory work, imaging, and CT.
• Support oncology appointments, patient flow, and scheduling.
• Assist with the radioactive I-131 program for hyperthyroid cats.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes, and drug logs.
• Educate and communicate compassionately with clients.
• Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, and other specialty teams.
• Provide patient-centered care and support throughout treatment.
