About The Position

Provides direct patient care in support of licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients, helping maintain a safe environment and reduce the risk of harm. Collects patient information and reports it to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessments and identify changes in condition.

The position is on Inpatient Medical Oncology at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 32-bed all-private unit serving medical, oncology, and palliative care patients. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, on a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with holiday and weekend rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living; perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure-ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
