About The Position

Perform comprehensive patient assessments, evaluate treatment response, and manage acute and chronic oncology-related symptoms and complications. Provide outpatient and potentially inpatient care. Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic testing, and imaging to guide treatment planning and patient care. Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, symptom management, supportive care, and survivorship planning. Participate in oncology clinics and specialty programs, including lung cancer screening, lung cancer clinic, and rapid diagnostic services. Participate in clinical rounds, tumor boards, and interdisciplinary care conferences to support coordinated, high-quality patient care. Coordinate care with nursing, pharmacy, social work, navigation, palliative care, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care. Provide follow-up care and ongoing monitoring for patients receiving systemic therapies and other oncology treatments. Support quality, safety, and patient access initiatives while delivering compassionate, evidence-based oncology care.

Requirements

  • Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
  • BLS/ACLS Certified.
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
  • Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.
  • Acute Care certification for NPs is preferred.
  • Oncology Experience and an Oncology Nursing Certification are preferred.
