About The Position

Carle Cancer Institute is seeking a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Radiation Oncology Division in Urbana, Illinois. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing cancer treatment in Central Illinois. The APP will be fully integrated within the institute, utilizing best practices for high-quality care. You will collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists to provide both inpatient and outpatient care. This position allows for the enhancement of oncology expertise and active participation in disease-specific tumor boards, case presentations, and multidisciplinary clinics. The Carle Cancer Institute and Carle Foundation Hospital are located on the same campus in Urbana, Illinois. This role ensures no exposure to radiation from external beam therapy due to Carle's advanced technology.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from accredited PA program or completion of a master’s level advanced practice nurse program
  • Active license in State of IL
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire

  • Experience in oncology is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and care planning for inpatient cases requiring radiation oncology consultations
  • Coordination of care for patients receiving radiation therapy, concurrent chemotherapy, and brachytherapy
  • Management of treatment symptoms for patients undergoing radiation therapy
  • Conducting outpatient follow-up care for patients completing radiation therapy
