About The Position

This role is for a Medical Office Receptionist in the Women's Care Department at Texas Health. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with specific work hours from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The department is characterized by strong teamwork, collaboration, and a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The team emphasizes compassion and empathy towards patients and colleagues, working towards making healthcare more accessible, integrated, and reliable.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Be an outgoing individual with a friendly attitude
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Be able to multi-task front desk job responsibilities for a busy Family Practice/Internal Medicine Clinic
  • Must have outstanding communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Have knowledge of insurance authorization/billing requirements
  • Have demonstrated strong customer service and communication skills
  • Have organizational and time management skills
  • Be proficient computer skills
  • Have knowledge of clinic procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • Be a team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Six months Medical experience in a Clinic
  • Six months Business Office Customer Service experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient check-in, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed to comply with clinic and regulatory policies.
  • Answers phone calls and directs them appropriately.
  • Schedules appointments according to office guidelines.
  • Obtains accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays and deductible amounts.
  • Copies/scans patient access related hard copy materials into the electronic medical record.
  • Prepares patient charts, ensuring all necessary information is complete.
  • Conducts patient check-out, including pricing services, collecting patient responsibility payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Performs record filing and retrieval, and assists with filing registration documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Confirms next-day appointments and informs patients about required documentation and time-of-service payment details.
  • Follows up with patients regarding the Missed Appointment Policy and sends appropriate communications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
