About The Position

The Medical Office Front Desk Lead at the Heart & Vascular Specialists Clinic will deliver care to patients utilizing the Medical Office Front Desk Lead Process. This role acts as a team lead to schedule work and ensure timely and accurate billing activities. The lead will coordinate with clinical staff to obtain charge information, code procedures and diagnoses, and act as a resource for Practice Managers and Physicians regarding denials and coding questions. Responsibilities include coordinating medical documentation to support billing, resolving complex patient billing inquiries, and managing patient check-out processes such as pricing services, collecting payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The lead will also perform payment and benefit verification, coordinate practitioner schedules, and assist with training new hires. This position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with 25% travel to surrounding clinics. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • Four years of Billing Experience in a Healthcare Organization (required)
  • Four years of Office Experience (required)
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in one setting
  • Demonstrates good understanding of health insurance and medical costs, including coding
  • Strong customer skills

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a team lead to schedule work and ensure timely and accurate billing activities.
  • Coordinates with clinical staff to obtain charge information for all patients.
  • Codes procedures performed and diagnosis on charge.
  • Acts as a resource for Practice Managers and Physicians with denials and coding questions.
  • Coordinates copies of medical documentation with physician charges to support billing to third-party payers.
  • Resolves complex patient billing inquiries and problems.
  • Conducts all functions associated with patient check-out including pricing services, collecting payment, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Completes payment and benefit verification on all patients in accordance with practice policies.
  • Coordinates scheduling with that of the practitioner’s schedules to ensure proper coverage of patient appointments and out-of-office calls.
  • Works with Practice Manager to facilitate training of new hires and other training initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
