The Medical Office Assistant maintains a pleasant, courteous and cooperative manner with patients, visitors and Center's personnel. The role involves greeting, registering, and receiving patients, visitors, and staff, ascertaining the nature of business, and directing them appropriately. Responsibilities include answering telephones, scheduling appointments, preparing daily schedules, retrieving patient charts, interviewing patients for demographic data, updating patient information, determining qualification for sliding fee scale adjustments, generating encounter forms, assembling medical record charts, and ensuring patient records are accurately identified. The position also involves checking charts for incomplete histories, receiving and processing patient payments, reconciling receipts, preparing and mailing insurance claims, preparing deposit slips, matching encounter forms, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.
