About The Position

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will perform clerical duties, including handling inbound and outbound calls, processing automated appointment scheduling, completing registration for patients, updating patient demographic information, and assisting with Referrals and Health Information management. The MOA will also perform various patient care activities while providing excellent patient and physician customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting required specific specialty area Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Epic strongly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately determine patient needs as a call center representative for scheduling, taking messages, transferring calls, and completing all tasks/notes
  • Assists both the patient, clinical staff, and Physicians by organizing, receiving, scanning, and distributing patient health information (paperwork) needed for patient care, providing PHI to patients and internal/external parties by following HIPAA guidelines and instructions from the team leaders as requested to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Supports the Referral Hub team by following current and standardized referral policies and workflows.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments with specialists and perform appropriate follow-up on Referrals/Diagnostics
  • Accurately enter patient information into patient medical records
  • Manage the inbound fax system within the Family Medicine department, along with responding/resolving tasks in Epic.
  • Conduct general MOA duties such as pre-certs & authorizations, chart preparation, and clerical tasks
  • Maintain strong working relationships with administrative and clinical teams
  • Performs other duties within the scope of the skillset as assigned
