About The Position
White Rock Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, care-minded Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The MLT will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensure quality control, and follow established laboratory policies and procedures. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team in a supportive and patient-focused environment.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift.
- Able to maintain balance, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and wipe.
- Ability to work within a team, with supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze specimens following established laboratory protocols.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through strict quality control measures.
- Record and report test results to physicians and healthcare providers promptly.
- Maintain laboratory safety by adhering to OSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory standards (COLA).
- Participate in proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage inventory and ensure adequate supply of laboratory reagents and materials.
- Assist in training new staff and students as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and laboratory documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
