About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) position at Highland Park Hospital is a part-time role, working 20 hours per week. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 10pm-6:30pm, with every other weekend and rotating holidays. This role involves solving technical and interdepartmental problems within the laboratory areas, identifying and correcting issues that may affect test performance or reporting, and demonstrating good communication, organizational, and cooperative skills.
Requirements
- Associate's degree and the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
- MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent and ongoing active certification is strongly preferred.
- MT/MLS: Experience preferred.
- Internal MLT Candidate: Two (2) years of experience at NorthShore performing moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate.
- External MLT Candidate: Four (4) years of experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate.
Responsibilities
- Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various Laboratory areas
- Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
