About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at Highland Park Hospital will be responsible for solving technical and interdepartmental problems related to various laboratory areas. This role requires the ability to identify issues that may affect test performance or reporting and take appropriate corrective action or notify supervisory personnel. Strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to work cooperatively with others, are essential.
Requirements
- Associate's degree and the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
- MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent and ongoing active certification is strongly preferred.
- MT/MLS: Experience preferred.
- Internal MLT Candidate: Two (2) years of experience at NorthShore performing moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate.
- External MLT Candidate: Four (4) years of experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate.
Responsibilities
- Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various Laboratory areas
- Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
