Join MD Anderson’s Point of Care Testing (POCT) Laboratory as a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist and help ensure accurate, reliable testing wherever patients receive care. Based at our Main Campus, you’ll support point-of-care testing operations across the institution, including our Missouri City and Northwest locations as needed. Your technical expertise will help maintain testing quality, support clinical teams, and ensure timely results that inform patient care at one of the world’s leading cancer centers. This part-time opportunity of 20 hours per week offers the chance to apply your laboratory expertise in a specialized role that combines technical testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and education. You’ll monitor point-of-care testing operations, review quality control data, address testing exceptions, troubleshoot equipment, and help validate new tests, methodologies, devices, and software. You’ll also work with laboratory systems, Excel, and point-of-care middleware to support accurate reporting, reliable connectivity, and effective management of patient testing data. You’ll serve as an important technical resource for healthcare professionals across multiple clinical areas. You’ll train and assess the competency of nurses, physicians, operating room staff, respiratory technicians, and other personnel performing point-of-care testing. From maintaining training records and delivering supplies and reagents to clinical units to performing quality checks, supporting IQCP requirements, and conducting routine reviews of testing operations, you’ll help ensure testing practices meet established quality and regulatory standards. You’ll also participate in process improvement initiatives, mentor colleagues, and perform operating room laboratory testing when needed. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented laboratory professional who enjoys working independently, solving technical challenges, and partnering with clinical teams to maintain high standards of testing quality. With a part-time schedule and the opportunity to support multiple locations, you’ll contribute to an essential laboratory service while expanding your technical and training expertise. MD Anderson offers competitive pay, an annual merit increase program, annual incentive opportunities, an employer-funded pension contribution, medical, dental and vision coverage, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development. Bring your laboratory expertise, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality to a team that helps deliver accurate point-of-care results and supports exceptional cancer care across MD Anderson.
