About The Position

Forefront Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant for its clinic in Kokomo, Indiana. The Medical Assistant supports patients and dermatologists during visits, helping maintain a friendly and efficient clinical environment. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for 38 hours per week. The role requires post-high-school education in a medical support field, such as Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete Forefront’s Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time and maintain certification.

Requirements

• Post-high-school education in a medical support field, such as Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
• Non-certified Medical Assistants must complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration.
• Keep current on all state certifications, licenses, and/or registrations required to continue employment.
• Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
• Organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document vital information.
• Scribe information for the dermatologist.
• Provide post-operative wound care.
• Draw blood and remove sutures.
• Clean and stock examination rooms.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Assist the dermatologist with procedures, including surgical photography, punch, DIF, and shave biopsies, excisions, electrodessication and curettage, incision and drainage, Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery, phototherapy, injections, KOH preparations, trichograms, Tzanck preparations, dermabrasion, patch testing, and blue light treatment.
