About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is responsible for the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. The role involves following standard operating procedures and ensuring laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. The primary focus is on molecular testing, with limited cross-training to microbiology and quality control. Phlebotomy is not required.

Requirements

MLS: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.

Nice To Haves

Mainly molecular testing with limited cross training to microbiology, quality control, no phlebotomy

Responsibilities

Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
