About The Position

Start your career with us and make a difference in our patients' journey to recovery! This is a full-time evening position for all departments including Blood Bank. It involves 8-hour shifts, either 2:30pm-11:00pm or 3:30pm-12:00am, with every 4th weekend rotation and 1-2 holidays per year. Sanford Medical Center Fargo is North Dakota's newest and largest medical center, serving as a regional healthcare hub. It houses the region's largest and busiest Level 1 Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, supported by AirMed transport services.

Requirements

MLS: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
