Medical Laboratory Scientist - Senior (Specialty Coagulation, 5x8s)
About The Position
Under limited supervision, the Medical Laboratory Scientist - Senior is responsible for independently applying clinical laboratory techniques in the performance of test procedures to provide data used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role assists in the daily operations of the laboratory, exercising good judgment and responsibility in all areas of testing. The Senior MLS troubleshoots technical/non-technical problems of a highly complex nature, reviews and documents quality control data, and performs corrective action on failed tests. They also review all quality assurance data and generate appropriate reports. This position provides supervision to entry-level staff and manages the laboratory in the Chief Technologist's absence, including assigning duties to laboratory staff. Additionally, the Senior MLS secures media and supplies for clinical testing and research studies, manages supply requests, and assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures. They also help prepare for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Advanced, technical skills in performing and analyzing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures.
- Knowledge of general laboratory, safety and quality control, principles, techniques, and terminology.
- Excellent customer service skills, for both internal and external customers.
- Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to keep accurate, detailed records.
- Ability to use complex medical equipment.
Responsibilities
