About The Position
Collects and prepares blood samples for laboratory testing and enters specimen data into the laboratory information system. Assists medical technologists and pathologists with designated tests, while helping maintain laboratory equipment, quality control standards, and compliance records in accordance with accreditation guidelines.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) experience required
- ASCP certification (in-hand/documented)
- Active BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
Nice To Haves
- prior travel experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform skin punctures and venipunctures to obtain blood samples; verify patient identity, match requisitions, and accurately label specimen tubes.
- Safely dispose of contaminated needles, blood, biohazard fluids, and tissues adhering to applicable laws, policies, and infection-control standards.
- Process specimens according to protocol; enter patient, specimen, and insurance/billing information into system(s); maintain organized, sterile blood-drawing trays and clean workstations.
- Assist with additional designated laboratory duties as directed.
