Medical Laboratory Scientist - Special Coagulation
About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist in Special Coagulation provides specialized, high-complexity laboratory testing to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients with coagulation and hemostatic disorders. This position performs advanced testing such as coagulation factor assays, lupus anticoagulant, von Willebrand, HIT, and platelet aggregometry, while also supporting esoteric testing, result interpretation, quality assurance, proficiency testing, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance. The MLS will play an integral role in developing and validating procedures, implementing new testing, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and collaborating with laboratory leadership, medical directors, clinical teams, and reference laboratories to ensure accurate and reliable patient results. Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Coursework must align with duties of the specific section Medical Laboratory discipline position and meet the education Eligibility Routes for Medical Laboratory Scientist listed on the ASCP website at (ascp.org); or possesses a categorical scientist level certification as a BB, C, CG, CT, M, MB; or has met the requirements for AAB and/or AMT certifications.
- Six months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge in laboratory functions.
Nice To Haves
- Certification at the technologist or medical/clinical lab scientist level from a nationally recognized agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT, ASM, AAB, AABB, ACS, or HEW).
