About The Position

Under supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the intern provides timely, courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently and achieving all performance standards. Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties.

Requirements

• Accepted into the Baptist Medical Center South, School of Medical Laboratory Science program
• A senior Medical Laboratory Science student recommended by AUM Medical Laboratory Science Program Director for a 6-month clinical internship
• A Medical Laboratory Technician student recommended by Jefferson State Community College Program Director for a 6-month clinical internship
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
• Strong team leadership skills
• Strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
• Must be able to meet strict deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to develop trust with leaders in the organizations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Proven track record of successful performance
• Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Must meet CLIA personnel testing qualifications before performing high complexity testing
