A Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the Microbiology Laboratory is responsible for processing, evaluating and performing tests to identify microorganisms or antigens according to written procedures and performs susceptibilities in the Microbiology Laboratory. This role requires organizing and prioritizing workload, working independently, demonstrating technical expertise on various Microbiology processes, and making critical decisions about results, QC and maintenance issues. The position provides departmental support and performs additional duties or projects as assigned to assist their supervisor. It also involves recording and evaluating daily, weekly, and monthly QC in assigned areas for further review by the supervisor, maintaining safe work practices, following all regulatory requirements, being familiar with all procedures in the department, and engaging the supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate. Other duties as needed will also be performed.
