Medical Laboratory Scientist I- Core
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Core laboratory in San Antonio, Texas. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The role performs laboratory testing and related specimen-processing, result-review, reporting, and record-maintenance work in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The stated pay range is $29.00 or more per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift; further details would be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers take into account relevant skills, training, experience, education, applicable certifications, market factors, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
