Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Microbiology
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Microbiology department in Lewisville, Texas. The position runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The role involves performing high-complexity microbiology testing and handling, analyzing, reviewing, and reporting patient specimens and results in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. Pay starts at $29.50 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differential on some or all hours worked, and successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Salary offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Requirements
- One year of clinical experience performing high-complexity testing in Microbiology.
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct encountered problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
