About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Microbiology department in Lewisville, Texas. The role performs clinical laboratory testing and related specimen, result, and record-handling duties. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The pay range starts at $29.50 per hour; offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications, as well as market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinical experience performing high-complexity testing in Microbiology.
One of the following education or qualification paths: a BS in Medical Technology (preferred); a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities

Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
Review and release test results.
Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test-result reporting, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
