About The Position

The Medical Lab Technician/Scientist (MLT/MLS) position at Community Hospital involves performing a wide range of laboratory procedures, interpreting test results, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory workflows, instrumentation, quality control, and regulatory compliance. The position is PRN (as needed) and requires relocation to Grand Junction, CO 81505 before starting work. The work location is in-person/onsite.

Requirements

MLT I: Associate’s Degree, required.
MLT I: One (1) year of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
MLT I: Complete MLS program and receive ASCP MLS certification (ASCP) within 6 months of hire.
MLT I: Strong working knowledge of laboratory workflows as they relate to orders, requisitions, instrumentation, quality control, troubleshooting and CAP regulations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MLT II: Associate’s Degree, required.
MLT II: MLT certification (ASCP) with 10 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.
MLT II: Strong working knowledge of laboratory workflows as they relate to orders, requisitions, instrumentation, quality control, troubleshooting and CAP regulations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MLS: Bachelor’s Degree, required.
MLS: One (1) year of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
MLS: Complete MLS program and receive ASCP MLS certification (ASCP) within 6 months of hire.
MLS: Strong working knowledge of laboratory workflows as they relate to orders, requisitions, instrumentation, quality control, troubleshooting and CAP regulations or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Perform all designated procedures competently, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Specimen Processing, Blood Bank, and Microbiology when designated.
Set up and perform a variety of technical and complex tests following established procedures.
Pull various reports throughout the day to ensure complete, thorough and timely reporting of laboratory test results.
Advise following shift about the status of any pending work.
Interpret, correlate and report test results.
Verify computer-generated reports.
Investigate and address erroneous test values, irregularities, errors or instrument failures.
Recognize and solve problems or determine alternative solutions for analysis if needed.
Document all deviations from established procedures for review by Manager.
Document all quality control failures and corrective action taken.
Maintain accurate logs, records, files and all other required documentation.
