About The Position

This is a full-time position on the first shift at the AAMC Lab. The role requires an individual with at least an Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or completion of a 50-week official military medical laboratory procedures course with a specialty in Medical Laboratory Specialist. Relevant experience is preferred. The position demands strong analytical skills for determining proper specimen containers and storage, as well as for assessing the appropriateness of laboratory orders. Effective interpersonal skills are necessary for clear communication with physicians and other personnel. The job involves walking or standing up to eighty percent of the work time, with frequent changes in daily priorities. There is occasional exposure to hazardous materials. Essential functions must be performable, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution OR Official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and holds/held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
  • MLT: ASCP registered or eligible
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to determine proper specimen container and storage.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians and various other personnel.
  • Walking or standing up to eighty percent of the work time.
  • Subject to frequent changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to determine appropriateness of laboratory order.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
