This is a full-time, 3rd shift position for a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician. The role involves performing, evaluating, and monitoring laboratory tests, as well as maintaining and calibrating instruments. The position requires evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and following protocols for reporting and notification. Quality control and assurance are key aspects of the role, as is ensuring specimen suitability and proper labeling. The technologist will also provide direction and technical assistance to other lab staff and students, and assist in improving laboratory procedures and processes. Compliance with accrediting agency standards, including CAP Regulatory requirements, is essential. Specialty testing in various areas such as transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry will be performed. The role also involves providing direct support to critical care departments during high acuity patient events, including attending codes and performing specialized testing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
