About The Position

Southwestern Community College District (SWCCD) is seeking to hire a part-time instructor to teach a variety of Medical Laboratory Technician courses. Classes are face-to-face only and held on weeknights at the National City Higher Education Center campus, Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Applications for part-time instructor pools are continually accepted and will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

Requirements

Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR Any associate’s degree and six years of professional experience.
Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
Certification as an MLT, MLS or CLS via ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
Licensed by Laboratory Field Services to practice laboratory science in California.
Current resume.
Unofficial transcripts verifying awarded degree(s) and completion date.
Any relevant certifications, diplomas, or licenses that demonstrate you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science and two years of professional experience OR Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and six years of professional experience OR Master’s degree in laboratory science or field closely related to medical laboratory science.
MLS (ASCP) certified or (CLS) with teaching experience.
Coursework evaluation by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) for applicants with foreign degrees.

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of Medical Laboratory Technician courses including: Clinical Urinalysis and Body Fluids, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Immunohematology.
Conduct face-to-face classes on weeknights at the National City Higher Education Center campus.
