About The Position

This role is for a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at Ascension Medical Group in Indianapolis, IN, within the Clinical Lab department. The schedule is Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with rotating Fridays from 12:30 pm to 9 pm. The MLS will make an impact by delivering accurate diagnostic insights through performing, validating, and interpreting complex laboratory tests. They will also ensure uninterrupted clinical care by executing rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards for safety and regulatory compliance. Maintaining operational readiness involves managing instrument performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and stocking supplies. Additionally, the role includes fostering team excellence by training and mentoring Medical Laboratory Technicians, new team members, and clinical students. The MLS will drive laboratory accuracy across all phases of patient care, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
  • Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
  • Medical Tech credentialed from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB).
  • Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform, validate, and interpret complex laboratory tests to inform patient treatment plans.
  • Execute rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage instrument performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain essential supplies.
  • Train, mentor, and support Medical Laboratory Technicians, new team members, and clinical students.
  • Manage pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing processes.
