Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)
About The Position
The Medical Lab Scientist processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens, reviews and reports laboratory results, and performs operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. The role also serves as a resource to other laboratory personnel and performs other duties as assigned. The position is with Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital, a Tucson hospital established in 1961. The hospital offers advanced services including a Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, labor and delivery, cardiology, orthopedics, stroke, and emergency medicine. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an approved college or university and/or graduation from an accredited school of medical technology, or an accepted equivalent such as qualifying military training under 42 CFR 493.1489 or qualifying as a Medical Technologist under the HHS examination provisions in 42 CFR 493.1491.
- Six months to one year of medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.
- Registered or registry eligible with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS) within 12 months of hire.
- For personnel trained outside the United States, an equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES, or AICE must be completed within 30 days of hire.
