About The Position

St. Luke's Health System is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Scientist to join the Lab team at Boise Medical Center. The role performs routine tests in clinical laboratories to support the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. The scientist handles moderately complex issues, uses a solid working knowledge of the subject matter, and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals through critical thinking and flexibility within established processes and departmental procedures. The role may also serve as a resource for lower-level team members. The position is in the Molecular Lab Reference Lab department in Boise, Idaho, and is a part-time night-shift role. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific-related field.
No prior experience required.
Must hold one of the following certifications: Blood Banking (ASCP_BB); Chemistry (ASCP_C); Cytogenetics (CYGT); Hematology (ASCP_H); Microbiology (ASCP_M); Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB); Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS or AMT_MLS); or Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT).

Responsibilities

Perform tests on specimens accurately, in an organized and prioritized manner, following laboratory procedures and policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Collect specimens according to section needs, with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
Independently perform routine and/or more complex quality control, linearity, calibration, and delta checks on laboratory equipment.
Act as a resource for team members on advanced tasks, complex questions, and/or patient concerns.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Follow department policy in maintaining necessary records and documentation.
Ensure input is accurate and complete.
Perform other duties as assigned.
