Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Knowledge of health insurance procedures
- Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff
- Self-starter with aptitude for following through on details and resolving discrepancies
- Ability to read, write and speak English
Responsibilities
- Models a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to patients, families and co-workers
- Perform all aspects of insurance verifications for the patients who are scheduled for Inpatient and Outpatient procedures and special radiology procedures
- Obtain authorizations and pre-certifications as required for all procedures; work with clinical staff to obtain additional clinical information for benefit review
- Request and secure referrals from Primary Care Physicians and Insurance companies
- Analyze benefits for appropriate coverage for services
- Capable of calling families to verify their information and insurance coverage
- Provide clerical and administrative support as required
- Assist with updating and maintaining current billing systems/software
- Create reports for tracking and trending purposes
- Cross-train with other positions in Patient Access to provide coverage and understand overall functions of department
- Responsible for all correspondence from Insurance companies
