About The Position

The Medical Imaging Assistant assists modality technologists in their assigned area under the technologists’ direct supervision and within the Medical Imaging Assistant scope of practice. The role supports patient flow between departments by accepting assignments, prioritizing and coordinating patient movement, greeting patients, escorting ambulatory patients, and transporting patients between patient floors and Medical Imaging by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, according to the patient’s condition and departmental needs. The assistant also transports decedents to the morgue and follows morgue workflow. They use appropriate tools, knowledge, and skills to maintain the safety of patients, coworkers, and themselves. Additional duties include helping technologists transfer patients on and off imaging tables and completing minor housekeeping tasks as needed. The position is per diem with variable shifts.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Healthcare provider BLS card required prior to the start date.
• Evidence of completion of an approved 7-hour HIV/AIDS training course, or completion of the course within the first month of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous patient transport, patient aide, and film library experience.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of hospital computer systems.

Responsibilities
