Medical Imaging Assistant (Per Diem)
About The Position
The Medical Imaging Assistant (MIA) assists modality technologists in their assigned area under the technologists’ direct supervision and within the MIA scope of practice. The MIA takes assignments, prioritizes and coordinates patient flow between departments, greets patients, escorts ambulatory patients, and transports patients between patient floors and Medical Imaging by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed according to the patient’s condition or departmental needs. The role also includes transporting decedents to the morgue and following morgue workflow. The MIA uses appropriate tools, knowledge, and skills to help ensure the safety of patients, staff, and themselves, assists technologists with transferring patients on and off imaging tables, and performs minor housekeeping duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Healthcare provider BLS card required before the start date.
- Evidence of completing an approved 7-hour HIV/AIDS training course, or completion of the course within the first month of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous patient transport, patient aide, or film library experience.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of hospital computer systems.
Responsibilities
