About The Position

The Department of Medical Education at Creighton University School of Medicine, Phoenix Campus invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the Rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Pharmacology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach pharmacology curricular content to first- and second-year medical students within the MD program, as well as to students in the Physician Assistant program. Teaching responsibilities will include delivering integrated pharmacology instruction through lectures, small-group learning sessions, case-based discussions, team-based learning modalities, and others that support student achievement and clinical application of foundational pharmacologic principles. We seek creative, innovative educators to join our collaborative team. Candidates are expected to have earned a terminal degree in pharmacology or a related field, possess a strong record of excellence in teaching, and demonstrate teaching experience that incorporates different methods such as team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning. A background in the use of technology in teaching as well as curriculum development is preferred. The successful candidate will have unique opportunities to serve in significant leadership roles while contributing to innovative curriculum development, student mentorship, faculty collaboration, and the expansion of clinical and research partnerships throughout the Phoenix healthcare community. Requirements

Earned a terminal degree in pharmacology or a related field
Strong record of excellence in teaching
Teaching experience that incorporates different methods such as team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning
PhD, MD, or equivalent degree required
Experience teaching in medical education for a minimum of three years preferred

Responsibilities

Partner with faculty on the Omaha campus to design, develop, and deliver integrated foundational pharmacology content across organ-system blocks.
Teach using diverse, high-impact instructional methods, including Team-Based Learning (TBL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Case-Based Learning (CBL), and large-group interactive sessions.
Work closely with Component and Block Directors to ensure pharmacology content is clinically relevant, meets Educational Policy Committee (EPC) approved objectives, and complies with accreditation standards.
Serve as an active mentor to medical students. Proactively identify at-risk students, providing direct support, tutoring, or swift referral to Academic Learning Specialists as needed.
Design and implement robust assessments, evaluate student performance, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Serve in pivotal roles supporting course administration, curricular integration, and assessment design.
Actively serve on CUSOM committees and participate in ongoing accreditation processes related to pharmacology and basic sciences.
Maintain effective, professional communication with medical students, faculty peers, and administration.
Pursue ongoing scholarly research and publication consistent with Creighton University’s requirements for career advancement.
Engage in regular faculty development activities and maintain active participation in professional organizations relevant to academic and scientific expertise.
