About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Medical Driver in Lexington, Kentucky, at $17.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The role involves long-distance driving throughout Kentucky and spending most of the workday in a company-owned vehicle transporting medical and related materials. MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens.

Drivers use a handheld scanning device to track items, follow operating procedures and service schedules, and provide professional, courteous service to clients and the public. They load and unload vehicles, inspect and maintain vehicles, and may be assigned different routes and duties according to client and business needs. Drivers are expected to work collaboratively with teammates and clients.

Candidates must meet the stated age and driving-history requirements, pass required screening, and be able to perform the role’s physical duties, including lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods. Employment offers are contingent on completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and hold an active driver’s license for at least three years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity with technology and ability to adapt to it.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screens.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• COVID-19 vaccination proof may be required depending on location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
• Completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image through appearance and interactions with clients and the public.
• Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes, which may change based on client and business needs.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
• Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
