About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Medical Driver in Lexington, Kentucky, to transport medical supplies and specimens throughout the state. The role involves spending most of the workday driving a company-owned vehicle and delivering materials such as lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related items. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., at $17.00 per hour.

Drivers use a handheld scanning device to track items, follow operating policies and service schedules, load and unload vehicles, and complete pre- and post-trip inspections. They are expected to drive safely, maintain a clean vehicle, interact professionally with clients and the public, and demonstrate teamwork and adaptability. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across assigned routes.

Candidates must meet the stated driving, reliability, customer service, procedural, and physical requirements. Employment offers are conditional on completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver’s license for at least 3 years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity with and ability to adapt to technology.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items from storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands despite varying pickup and drop-off responsibilities and potentially inconsistent routes.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport medical supplies, specimens, records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials throughout Kentucky.
• Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image through appearance and interactions with clients and the public.
• Load and unload company vehicles with appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes; adapt to route changes and varying client and business needs.
