About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Medical Driver, also identified as a Logistics Service Representative, in Lexington, Kentucky. The position pays $16.00 per hour and follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It involves long-distance driving throughout Kentucky. Most of the workday is spent driving a company-owned vehicle to safely transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Routes and assignments may change based on client and business needs. MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The company emphasizes teamwork, integrity, dependability, professional service, and continuous improvement. Training is provided through its Blue Shirt Certified program. Candidates must meet the stated driving, customer-service, procedural, screening, and physical requirements. As a condition of employment, candidates receiving an offer must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with and ability to adapt to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination depending on location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Operate a handheld scanning device to track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes and adapt to route changes based on client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
