About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. 3M is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic candidate for 3M Lexington. Full- time. Starting Rate: $28.48. New hires start with 3 weeks’ paid vacation. Health, vision and dental start day one. Employee stock discount. 401K Match of 5%. The person hired for the position of Maintenance Mechanic will work at our 3M Lexington plant site. Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma / GED or higher (completed prior to start)
  • Minimum of five years of Industrial Maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of complex high vacuum systems
  • Be able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Be able to setup/operate mills, lathes, drill presses and any other equipment required to perform mechanical duties including fabrication
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Applicants who meet the basic qualifications above will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of specialty production equipment including high temperature furnaces, ovens, high vacuum equipment, sputter coating machines, class 4 lasers, welders, CNC lathes and mills.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production and facilities support equipment to maintain production and minimize downtime.
  • Performs regular scheduled maintenance, PM, repairs and modifications to maintain and improve production and facility support equipment.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance on simple to complex equipment, machines, and facilities.
  • Performs a variety of plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry functions.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of specialty production equipment including high temperature furnaces, ovens, high vacuum equipment, sputter coating machines, class 4 laser drillers and welders, CNC lathes
  • Reads and interprets mechanical drawings ranging from simple tools and components to complex mechanical devices, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic circuits, equipment and building manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welders, torches, and material handling equipment. Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Performs simple to complex machinist and fabrications duties using manual lathes, mills, drill presses, metal forming and shearing equipment.
  • Must be able to use SAP Plant Maintenance Module to check for assigned tasks and projects, write purchase requisitions, input labor hours for each job completed and parts procurement.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly, contribute efforts toward the overall cleanliness and safety of the shop and clean up the general working area (shop and/or facility) at the completion of each job.
  • Apply safe work methods when performing the job requirements in hazardous and non-hazardous environments so as to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers or damage to company property.
  • Report unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervision immediately.
  • Observe 3M Safety Rules, 3M Guide to Conduct, and department work and safety rules.
  • Perform other duties and tasks not specifically listed above which might be necessary to conduct company business in an effective and efficient manner as established by 3M.
