About The Position

Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Medical Director to provide executive clinical and administrative leadership across our behavioral health crisis continuum. In this role, you will oversee psychiatric and medical services across multiple programs, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care while maintaining compliance with CARF standards and Maryland COMAR regulations. As a key member of the leadership team, you will guide clinical strategy, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and advance innovative approaches to crisis response and recovery. This is an opportunity to lead system-level change while directly impacting care for individuals in crisis.

Requirements

  • MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Active Maryland medical license and DEA registration
  • Minimum 5 years post-residency experience
  • 3–5 years leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in crisis psychiatry, substance use treatment, and/or residential or stabilization programs

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry or Community Psychiatry
  • Experience with CARF accreditation and Maryland COMAR regulations
  • Demonstrated success building hospital and system-level partnerships

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and medical oversight across crisis and outpatient programs
  • Supervise psychiatrists, nurse practitioners (CRNPs), and physician assistants (PAs)
  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices including crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
  • Oversee withdrawal management and emergency petition protocols
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including medical, clinical, nursing, peer, and residential staff
  • Ensure 24/7 coverage and compliance with staffing requirements
  • Manage program operations across residential and community-based settings
  • Lead sentinel event reviews and corrective action planning
  • Promote a collaborative, equity-driven leadership culture
  • Ensure compliance with Maryland COMAR 10.63 regulations and related standards
  • Lead and support CARF accreditation readiness and ongoing compliance
  • Oversee quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Represent BCRI in behavioral health workgroups, task forces, and community forums
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with hospitals, emergency departments, and community providers
  • Support system-wide crisis planning and coordination efforts
