About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking an experienced Medical Director to join their passionate team at Nebel Street Animal Hospital in Bethesda, MD. This is a full-service general practice hospital dedicated to staying current with the latest advancements in diagnostics, medical treatments, surgical procedures, and preventative wellness. They provide top-of-the-line medical, surgical, and dental equipment, as well as an in-house laboratory and ultrasonography. The ideal candidate is passionate about high-quality veterinary medicine and thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the medical operations within the hospital.
  • Serving as a mentor to the medical staff.
  • Leading the advancement of high-quality patient care and client service.
  • Serving as a mentor to staff, providing stability and leadership within the Hospital.
  • Supporting DVMs to develop an understanding and best practices of how behaviors impact revenue.
  • Providing DVM’s one on one development supporting quarterly production, reviewing production performance and coaching for improvement.
  • Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations.
  • Meeting regularly with the Hospital Manager to review controllable costs: DVM and Support Payroll, Inventory.
  • Working in collaboration with the Hospital Manager to maintain and build relationships with the referring community.
  • Evaluating and monitoring protocols for daily running/flow of hospital from intake to discharge.
  • Playing a significant part in the decision-making process and implementation of any new initiatives within their hospital.
  • Participating in weekly operational conference calls.
  • Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels.
