About The Position

Mount Sinai Health System seeks an Endocrinologist with a focus on Pituitary Disorders, at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Division of Endocrinology within the Department of Medicine, is seeking senior assistant or associate professor candidates for the position of Medical Director of the Pituitary and Neuro-Endocrinology Program. One of the primary objectives for this role is to enhance and develop the existing Mount Sinai Pituitary Care Research Center into a “Pituitary Center of Excellence”. The candidate will co-lead the center with neurosurgical director, Dr. Theodore H. Schwartz. The position is based at Mount Sinai Hospital, which is central to Mount Sinai Health System’s transformation into a leader in Population Health. As a clinical faculty member in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Diseases, you will be expected to provide the highest quality of care for diverse our patient populations. Candidates should have expertise in the care of patients with neuroendocrine conditions and have established research funding. The endocrinologist will join an established team of 20 physicians as well as a multi-disciplinary team comprised of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered dieticians, and certified diabetes educators. As a faculty member this position plays an important role in educating endocrinology fellows and medical residents. Collaboration across specialties and an interest in clinical and / or translational research are expected. A primary objective for this role is to enhance the existing Mount Sinai Pituitary Care Research Center into a “Pituitary Center of Excellence” in collaboration with neurosurgeons, aligning the standards and benchmarks outlined by Casanueva et al., Pituitary (2017) 20:489-498. This venue will be a hub for sub-specialty patient care and fellowship teaching. Requirements

  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York State Medical License

Responsibilities

  • Develop a clinical practice at the Neurosurgery and Endocrine Faculty practice, to care for patients with pituitary disorders and general endocrine disorders
  • Participate in the division on-call rotation and provide Endocrine inpatient care on a consultation basis as scheduled
  • Participate in clinically based quality improvement initiatives set by the Division, Department of Medicine, and Mount Sinai Health system to improve the care of patients with endocrine diseases admitted to the hospital
  • Assist with educational training of clinical fellows
  • Direct all educational activities in the area of pituitary diseases which includes monthly multidisciplinary pituitary conferences (done in conjunction with a Senior Endocrine Fellow), two student lectures on pituitary diseases and case discussions in the area of pituitary disorders.
  • Participate in research and grant activities.
  • Participate in other divisional clinical/educational and research activities as directed by the Medical Directors and/or Division Chief.
  • Provide medical care in high-functioning outpatient environment
  • Collaborate with multi-specialty practice colleagues as an integral part of a world-class health system
  • Attend departmental and division functions such as but not limited to: meetings, grand rounds, conferences and retreats.
  • Maintain all necessary licensing and certifications for clinical practice, including required continuous medical education (CME) credits
  • Actively participate in the academic activities of the Division by attending the Grand Rounds and other conferences on a weekly basis.
  • Facilitate research efforts of the department to the best of your abilities.
  • Occasionally be asked to participate in outreach to the community, and be asked to collaborate with the development office, press office and other offices within Mount Sinai East, Mount Sinai Health System or Icahn School of Medicine.
