The Physician will report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee for administrative matters. The role involves providing professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s), including services customarily performed by physicians practicing in physical and rehabilitation medicine, such as rounding and consultations. The position requires collaboration with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures. The Medical Director will also help identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, quality of life, and the provision of services by healthcare practitioners. Key responsibilities include the evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities. This encompasses diagnosing and treating painful or functionally limiting conditions, managing co-morbidities, performing diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and focusing on preventing complications of disability. The role also involves assessing and stabilizing patients with emergent conditions, performing physical examinations of pain, weakness, and numbness, and developing treatment plans that may include physical agents or other interventions. The Medical Director will also evaluate, prescribe, and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans, admit patients, perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and review/approve pre-admission screenings. Additionally, the position requires performing prompt, courteous, and competent professional services in accordance with professional standards, and performing administrative services as reasonably required. A significant part of the role involves the preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate medical and other records in compliance with regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards, including specific documentation like PAS, IPOC, interdisciplinary team conferences, progress notes, admission orders, and IRF-PAI.
